Asmar Narimanbekova (born March 13, 1961, in Baku, Azerbaijan) is a prominent Azerbaijani painter known for her vibrant and expressive style. She was born into a family of artists—her father, Togrul Narimanbekov, was a celebrated painter, and her mother, Elmira Guseynova, a sculptor. Immersed in an atmosphere of art, music, and literature from an early age, Narimanbekova developed a deep passion for visual expression.
She studied at the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 1981 to 1986. In 2002, she was awarded the title Honorary Artist of Azerbaijan. Her artistic journey spans various styles, including fauvism, impressionism, post-impressionism, cubism, and expressionism, ultimately leading to a distinctive personal style characterized by dynamic color and emotional intensity.
Narimanbekova has exhibited internationally, with solo shows at UNESCO in Paris, Galerie Bortone in Paris, Humay Gallery in London, and galleries in Berlin, Milan, Cannes, and Ankara. Her works are held in collections across Europe, Asia, and North America, including institutions such as the United Nations Gallery in New York, the Ministry of Culture of China, and the Modern Art Museum in Baku.
She lives and works between Baku and Paris, actively participating in exhibitions, festivals, and symposiums, and continues to be a vibrant figure in contemporary Azerbaijani art.
