Collection: Javor Rašajski

Javor Rašajski, born in 1946 in Vršac, Serbia, is a Serbian painter, illustrator, and ornithologist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1975, in the class of Professor Zoran Petrović. He studied drawing under Professor Aleksandar Luković and specialized in drawing during his postgraduate studies with Professor Petrović.

Rašajski has been actively exhibiting since 1982. His artistic work is deeply connected to nature, particularly birds, which feature prominently in his drawings and paintings. He has illustrated or authored over eighty books, including six original works in the field of ornithology, and published more than twenty scientific papers on the subject.

His contributions to literature and art have earned him multiple awards, including two first prizes at the Belgrade International Book Fair (2002 and 2004), and a high award from the Romanian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2007 for his book Ptice Banata. He also received the October Award of the city of Vršac in 1998 and 2004.

Rašajski is a member of Matica Srpska and ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia). He has served as director of the City Museum in Vršac and held roles in local cultural administration. He lives and works in both Belgrade and Vršac.
