Collection: Katarina Djordjević

Katarina Djordjević, born in 1966 in Niš, Serbia, is a Serbian painter, printmaker, and full-time professor of painting. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1992 and completed her postgraduate studies there in 1994. She is currently preparing her doctoral artistic project at the Faculty of Arts in Niš, where she teaches drawing and painting.

Her artistic career spans over three decades, with participation in more than 200 group exhibitions and 32 solo exhibitions across Serbia and internationally, including Canada, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, and several Balkan countries. She has received multiple awards for painting and printmaking in Serbia, Canada, and the Czech Republic.

Djordjević’s work is inspired by cultural heritage, myth narratives, and nature phenomena. Her paintings often feature rich textures and layered compositions that reflect light, atmosphere, and archaeological patina. She constructs intimate, symbolic interiors using elements from world heritage, placing them in contemporary contexts.

Coming from an artistic family—her father is an academic painter, her mother was an architect, and her sister is also a painter—Katarina has been immersed in art since childhood. Her creative practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, and object-based art, often organized into thematic cycles that explore universal symbolism and cultural intersections.
