Collection: Šandor Šlajf

Šandor Šlajf (born June 26, 1951, in Bečej, Serbia) is a Serbian painter known for his vivid color palette and distinctive style that blends figuration with surreal realism. Initially trained as a mechanical engineer, he later fully devoted himself to painting, a passion he had nurtured since childhood.

He studied under academic painter Viktor Škrabanja and completed formal art education at the Academy of Classical Painting in Sremska Kamenica in 2011, in the class of Vasa Dolovački. Šlajf has been a member of ULUV and ESNAF, and has held the status of a freelance artist since 2002.

His artistic career spans over 75 solo exhibitions and more than 200 group exhibitions, both in Serbia and internationally, including cities such as Belgrade, Novi Sad, Šabac, Zrenjanin, Bečići, Budapest, Szeged, Paris, and Vandenhoeven in the Netherlands.

Šlajf’s paintings are known for their energetic compositions and joyful atmosphere. Common motifs include clowns, horses, women, and genre scenes, often rendered in a surreal and expressive manner. His works are appreciated for their emotional depth and visual storytelling, making them popular among collectors and art lovers.

He has lived and worked in Novi Sad since 1997.
