Collection: Shmavon Shmavonyan

Shmavon Shmavonyan (born February 22, 1953, in Verin Artashat, Ararat Province, Armenia) is a celebrated Armenian painter known for his vibrant use of color and emotionally resonant compositions. He began painting at the age of seven and studied at the Terlemezian School of Arts in Yerevan from 1971 to 1975.

Shmavonyan’s career spans decades and continents, with exhibitions held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Istanbul, France, Beirut, England, Kuwait, and the United States, including notable shows in Pasadena, New York City, and California. His works often reflect themes of nature, spirituality, and human connection, and he is known for pieces such as Eternity and Bridge, which were donated to hospitals in California as symbols of healing and remembrance.

He has received numerous honors, including:

  • Gold Medal of Fridtjof Nansen (2007)
  • Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia (2009)
  • Honorary Title of Meritorious Artist of the Republic of Armenia (2011)
  • Mesrop Mashtots Medal (2012)

Shmavonyan’s paintings are featured in books and albums, including Ararat and Paruyr Sevak: My Good Dreams Are for You, Dears. He continues to live and work internationally, contributing to cultural and humanitarian causes through his art.
