Stefan Altakov

Stefan Altakov is a contemporary Bulgarian painter and art professor, born in Sofia in 1955. He studied painting at the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Sofia and continued his academic training at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. Throughout his career, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, and his works are included in public galleries and private collections.

Altakov also teaches painting and color theory at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” where he has held leadership roles within the Visual Arts Department. His artistic style blends expressionistic, abstract, and symbolic approaches, often incorporating textual elements and exploring themes of memory, culture, and identity.
