Collection: Alexander Kuznetsov
Alex Kuznetsov (born 1978 in Minsk, Belarus) is a Lisbon-based abstract artist whose work explores the transformative power of color, gesture, and material. Initially rooted in graffiti and street art, Kuznetsov began his artistic journey in the late 1990s, influenced by urban culture and the immediacy of spray paint. His early involvement with the graffiti crew TRUE STILO helped shape his visual language and approach to large-scale compositions.
In 2010, a pivotal moment led him to shift toward abstract expressionism. His paintings are known for their bold swipes of color, layered textures, and meditative process. Kuznetsov uses tools like aluminum rulers and squeedges to apply acrylics, emphasizing fluidity, erasure, and intuitive movement. His work often evokes urban imagery—futuristic outlines, horizon lines, and architectural forms—while allowing the medium itself to become the subject.
He has exhibited internationally in galleries such as Speerstra Gallery (Paris, Geneva), Triumph Gallery (Moscow), Montana Gallery (Barcelona), and the National Centre for Contemporary Art (Minsk). His art has been featured in publications like Graffiti Art Magazine, AD Architectural Digest, and Elle Decoration, and collected in cities including New York, London, Seoul, Brussels, and Monaco.
Kuznetsov’s practice spans painting, works on paper, and object-based art, all grounded in rhythm, accumulation, and material weight. His compositions invite prolonged attention and offer a counterpoint to the fast-paced visual culture of today.
