Jasna Opavski, born on August 11, 1974, in Belgrade, is a Serbian painter of Slovak origin, as well as an essayist and art critic. She earned her Master’s degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1998, studying under Professor Vojislav Todorić. Until 2013, she taught visual culture in high school and led various extracurricular programs including art, drama, journalism, public speaking, and debate. Since then, she has worked as an independent artist, dedicating herself to visual arts, writing, and cultural event organization.
She is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS), Mensa Serbia, and the international online art community Art Ćakula. She is also one of the founders of the Belgrade art groups Misti and Muzej Štafelaja. Her artistic focus is on the human figure and portraiture, often exploring inner life and cultural conflict through mythological and religious themes. Her work spans classical painting, murals, performance, costume, and mask design.
Jasna Opavski has held 11 solo exhibitions and participated in over 100 group exhibitions, art colonies, fairs, and symposia in Serbia, the region, and internationally, including France, Italy, and Jordan. Her paintings are part of significant collections both in Serbia and abroad. She has created numerous commissioned portraits for institutions and private collectors.
As an art critic, she has written about the work of more than 70 colleagues, contributing texts for catalogs, monographs, and public media. She regularly writes art criticism for Književne novine.
