Collection: Jelena Vragović
Jelena Vragović was born on March 6, 1973, in Vršac, Serbia. She completed her early education in Belgrade and went on to graduate from the Teacher’s Faculty there, later earning a specialist degree in mathematics education in 2006 and completing doctoral studies in Užice. Active in Serbia’s main art associations SULUV, ULUS, ULUPUDS and a member of Mensa, she balances her artistic work with her background as a mathematics educator.
Vragović’s paintings focus on landscapes, figurative scenes, and bold explorations of the male nude, seen in her 2022 “Eros of Existence” exhibition in Dimitrovgrad. That show sparked interest for its focus solely on male figures and was praised for its powerful, rebellious approach. In July 2025 she took part in the RTS Pigmalion colony and exhibition, speaking in an interview about how the Banat plains and Vršački Hills continue to inspire her work.
She has held solo exhibitions in Vršac, Belgrade, Pančevo, Novi Sad, Dimitrovgrad, Zrenjanin, Niš, Zemun, Požarevac and abroad. Her awards include recognition as Vojvodina’s most decorated amateur artist in 2009 and a 2011 prize at the VoVa Mini Art exhibition in Hungary. Today she lives and works in Vršac, continuing to explore regional landscapes and human form through rich color and expressive technique.
