Collection: Karen Aghamyan
Karen Aghamyan, born in 1946 in Yerevan, Armenia, is a renowned Armenian painter and professor. He began drawing at the age of four and studied at the Fine Arts College after P. Terlemezyan, graduating in 1964. He later completed his education at the Yerevan Fine Art and Theatre Institute in 1969.
Aghamyan has been a member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1974 and has held numerous academic and leadership roles, including Chief Painter of the Armenian Painting Foundation (1982–1986), Head of the Design Department at the Yerevan Fine Art and Theatre Institute (1987–1994), and Professor of Design in both Armenia and Russia. Since 1998, he has served as President of the Artists' Union of Armenia.
His artistic style is marked by symbolism and abstract romanticism, often expressed through emotionally resonant compositions. His works are known for their reserved and analytical approach, blending grace with cool detachment. Aghamyan has participated in over 300 exhibitions worldwide, including in Russia, France, Germany, China, Korea, the USA, and Cuba. His paintings are held in major museums and private collections across Europe, Asia, and North America.
He has received numerous honors, including the title of Honored Art Worker of Armenia (2006), Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2010), and the RA Medal “For Services to the Fatherland” (2017).
