Collection: Marija Šavija

Marija Šavija was born in 1975 in Zemun, Serbia. She is a Serbian painter, scenographer, and visual arts educator. She graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade in 2003, and completed her master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at the same university in 2006. She is a regular member of ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia) and holds the status of an independent artist.

In addition to her artistic career, she has over twenty years of experience in art education, including preparing students for entrance exams at art faculties and specialized art schools. She has designed and led workshops focused on visual thinking, comics, illustration, and storyboarding, held at cultural institutions such as the Student Cultural Center in Belgrade, Dom omladine, and the Cultural Center of Novi Sad. She currently runs a talent school at the Cultural Center Stari Grad – Parobrod.

Marija Šavija has participated in numerous group exhibitions since 1996 and has held more than ten solo exhibitions, including shows at the Student Cultural Center, Dom omladine, Blok Gallery, and the Lucida Gallery in Belgrade. Her work often explores themes of freedom, identity, and abstraction through painting and multimedia formats.
