Collection: Miona Marta Marković

Miona Marta Marković (born in 1979, Sombor, Serbia) is a contemporary visual artist whose work spans painting, graphics, documentary photography, and mixed media. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Painting from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade (2004), followed by a Master’s degree from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli (2007), and a PhD in History of Contemporary Art from Sapienza University of Rome (2018).

Her artistic evolution began with stylized figurative compositions, particularly the Embraces series, which art critics described as “a step further from Klimt.” In her recent phase, she has embraced geometric abstraction with soft edges, prioritizing emotional resonance over mathematical precision. Critics have compared her color tessellations to Gaudí’s architectural forms and Paul Klee’s poetic compositions.

Marković has exhibited her work in Italy, Serbia, Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bulgaria, and is a member of ULUS and ULUPUDS. Her research interests include the role of femininity in geometric abstraction, and she actively contributes to art theory through essays and reviews.
