Collection: Vladimir Spasić
Vladimir Spasić, born in 1930 in Slavinje near Pirot, is a Serbian painter and scenographer best known for his vivid depictions of Vojvodina landscapes and travel-inspired imagery. He graduated in 1954 from the Applied Arts School in Novi Sad, majoring in scenography, and spent his career working at the National Theatre in Sombor. Over the years, he designed more than 220 stage sets there alongside roughly 50 for theatres in other cities earning five awards for scenography, including the prestigious October Prize of the City of Sombor.
Alongside stage work, Spasić pursued painting throughout his life, producing hundreds of oil and tempera pieces that celebrate rural Vojvodina as well as scenes from across Serbia, Europe, the U.S., and Tunisia. He held over a hundred solo and group exhibitions both at home and abroad. In 2015, Sombor’s Laza Kostić Cultural Center hosted “Moji putopisi,” a show of works created from his travels.
